What are your dreams trying to tell you? Do you ever dream of being stranded in a strange city in the dead of night, along and afraid? Do you dream of wandering through a beautiful house and discovering hidden rooms filled with treasures? Do you ever dream of loved ones who have passed? Dreams are our passport to our unconscious mind and this brief guide will help you unlock their secrets.

MARY KENNEDY, a licensed psychologist and the author of Nightmares Can Be Murder, the first in the Dream Club Mysteries from Penguin-Random House, brings a unique perspective to this fascinating field.

This was a quick read that really packed a lot of information in. There were many ideas and ways of looking at dreams for those who want to be able to interpret their dreams better. I like how the author set aside the traditional "dream dictionaries" and focused more on the individual's experience of the dream and what was in it. She did include some very general, common dreams and ideas for interpreting them that actually made sense and felt relevant to my own experience (much more so than the books that offer the hundreds of "symbols" and assume that dream interpretation is like a connect the dots exercise - that never seems to apply to any of my own dreams). She also included some examples from her practice as a psychologist and some dreams her patients had and what those meant. I loved the FAQ section in the back that made it easy to find some of the more important info. It was definitely worth the quick read, and I feel like I came away with some useful info.

This provided a lot of really interesting information. It had situations that I could relate to, and even those subjects I have never experienced were fascinating. I have heard of the practice of keeping a dream dairy but have never heard of dream clubs. Would like to read more of Mary's insight on the subject of dreams. I've read some dream interpretation books but they are a bit too one-size-fits-all. I like how she qualifies that the same dream or situation can mean different things to different people, and you have to examine what's going on in your life to find an answer. I'm also intrigued by the dream club mysteries and look forward to checking those out as well.
I found this informative and helpful. The author gives real ideas to help our dreams be a window into our thoughts. I found ideas on figuring out what dreams may represent in life. Very thought provoking.
Dream Interpretation by Mary Kennedy was a down-to-earth introduction into dream interpretation. I liked that there was practical advice for people who wanted to begin tracking and interpreting their dreams. She encourages you to keep a diary of your dreams but to base your interpretations on your own life rather than a set of rules or symbols that have been determined by others. A simple and easy read that provided me with information that I could use in my own life.
The information was ok, but not enough. I wanted a more symbolic presentation.
I was having the same dream night after night. I wanted to determine what, in my
life, is causing my mind to bringing out the past in such realistic dreams.
This guide highlights some of the basics related to dreams (e.g., symbolism, anxiety dreams) without getting bogged down in too much detail. The author gives examples of dreams from both her clinical practice and the fictional world of her Dream Club mystery series. (Well, I hope it’s fictional, given that the first book is titled “Nightmares Can Be Murder" ….) She also offers some practical tips for starting a dream club. Her questions and suggestions for documenting and analyzing dreams can be used by just about anyone who wants to understand themselves better – even readers who aren’t keen to share what leaks from their unconscious at night.
